General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

Here at Type It Tiger we take your privacy seriously and will only use your personal information to administer your account and to provide the products and services which you have requested from us.

Such requests from you imply that you have consented to us using your data for this purpose.

The data that we collect is that which is required purely for transactional purposes. This may include, but not necessarily be limited to: a contact name; contact telephone number; contact email address and contact postal address.

An example of a transactional purpose will be the use of your personal data for raising an invoice in respect of a commissioned piece of work.

For the avoidance of doubt we will not use your data for unsolicited marketing purposes and neither will we pass your data to third parties.

Information for you about how we look after personal information about you and/or your business.

1. Background

On 25 May 2018 a new law came into place. It is known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). There is a lot of terminology used within the GDPR, but basically this is about how personal information is collected about you and how we use and look after it. This document sets out the detail about how the personal information provided will be used and looked after and explains your rights in relation to it.

2. Our commitment to you

Our commitment is to:-

  • Keep personal information safe and private;

  • Not use personal information for any purpose other than in connection with work commissioned by you and in accordance with the other purposes set out in this notice;

  • Make it easy for you to approach us if you have any concerns or questions relating to the holding of personal information;

  • Not provide personal information to others save where legally required to do so.

3. How information is collected from you

Information will be collected from you (or others in your organisation) where required for transaction purposes. This might be achieved by providing information verbally, whether face to face or by telephone, completion of paper documents or by electronic means such as through email or interaction with our websites. Please ensure that all personal information is accurately provided as the information which is held is only as accurate as the information provided in the first place.

If any of the personal information provided changes please notify us as soon as possible in order that the personal information can be updated.

4. What personal information will we collect from you?

We will typically only require the following information: –

  • Name;

  • Address;

  • Contact details

5. What will personal information be used for?

Personal information will only be used for transactional business purpose following the commission of a piece of work. These will include, although not necessarily be limited to:

  • Transactional communication

  • Invoicing

  • Delivery of completed work

6. To whom will we provide personal information?

Personal information will only be used by Type It Tiger for transactional purposes. Those working for Type It Tiger, including employees and sub-contractors, may therefore be required to have access to your data but this will only ever be on a “need to know” basis. We will never provide your data to any other third parties save where legally required to do so. Outsourcing of work only occurs in exceptional circumstances (e.g. if something requires to be translated from a foreign language before being transcribed). Outsourced work will not usually require the passing of personal information since the outsourced agent is not required to know the identity of our customer. However, if the content being translated as supplied by you contains personal information then the outsourced agent will unavoidably be privy to this information. Since this information is supplied by you rather than by Type It Tiger, and since it may be in a language that we cannot understand, we would urge you to redact any information that you do not wish to share prior to sending for provision to an outsourced agent.

7. What happens if I do not wish to provide personal information?

You are under no obligation to provide personal information, However, without certain pre-requisite information it will not be possible to deliver our services to you.

8. How long will you keep personal information for?

We will only retain personal information:-

  • For as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes it was collected for as set out in this Privacy Notice;

  • In some circumstances you have the right to request erasure of personal information held. This is be addressed below.

9. Your rights in relation to the information held in relation to you or your children

  • Access – the right to make what is known as a Subject Access Request to either a copy of the personal information which we hold about you or your children. If you make such a request we are required, in most circumstances, to provide a copy of the personal information without charge and within 30 days.

  • Correction – it is important that you keep the us up to date with any changes to the personal information provided. Subject to that you have the right to ask us, as appropriate, to correct or complete any inaccurate or incomplete personal data held about you. It is possible that evidence will be required of the new information provided.

  • Erasure – you are entitled to ask us to delete or remove personal information held where there is no good reason for the us to continue to hold it. It may not always be possible to comply with your request due to ongoing obligations in relation to the personal information. However, where this is the case you will be informed and be told of the reasons why it is not possible to comply with the request.

  • Object to processing – you may object to us processing personal information. There are some circumstances in which it will not be possible to comply with your request, for example if it is necessary to process the information in connection with ongoing obligations as have been explained to you in this document.

  • Restriction of processing – you may ask us to suspend processing of personal information in the following situations:-

    • If you want the data accuracy to be established;

    • Where the use of the personal information is unlawful but you do not want it to be erased;

    • You need the data to be held even though we no longer require it as you need it to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims; or

    • You have objected to the use of the data by tus but twe need time to determine whether they have overriding legitimate grounds to process it.

Request the transfer of information – sometimes rights apply to request a transfer of personal information held to other
organisations. This right only applies to personal information that is processed by automated means and is held because it was
necessary for the performance of the contract with you or personal information which is processed based on consent.

10. Keeping personal information safe

Type It Tiger has put in place appropriate security measures to prevent the personal information from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. Access to personal information is limited to those employees and contractors who have a business need to know the personal information and will only be processed upon instructions from us and procedures have been put in place to deal with any suspected breach of the requirements under the GDPRs and you and/or the Regulator referred to below will be notified of any potentially significant breach.

11. What happens if you want to complain?

It is hoped that you will not have cause to complain. If you do complaints should be made via the contacts page on the Type it Tiger website with the subject line “Complaint”.

18. Miscellaneous

  • It is not anticipated that any personal information will be transferred outside of the European Union save where specifically set out in this Notice. We will notify you if this position changes.

  • We do not anticipate using automated decision making in relation to the personal information provided.

  • This Privacy Notice may be updated from time to time. The latest Privacy Notice will be displayed on the Type it Tiger website.
